HISTORY
Callum was born in the water, to a mermaid mother. His father was a fisherman she lured astray one night and never saw again. However the ocean was not a safe place for a child. It is a harsh and unforgiving landscape where you must kill and cheat to survive. So Callum's mother swam in close to shore, and left her baby in some netting aboard a charter tour boat. The boat belonged to Sam and Ellie Fisher, a bohemian couple in Pismo Beach, California ("Clam Capital of the World!"). Unable to find where the baby came from, Sam and Ellie named the child Callum, and raised him as their own. His was a normal childhood by all standards. He excelled socially and in sports, becoming star of the local swim team. He was not so lucky academically, struggling to pay attention in class when he could hear the gulls and waves from his classroom window. When Callum turned thirteen, his life ceased to be normal. His mer-genes started to surface, calling him to the ocean. When he submerged himself, his body transformed, with silvery-blue scales growing on his arms, wide gills on his ribs, and his legs disappearing into a tail. This was when his mother returned to the waters of Pismo Beach, finding Callum and explaining his true nature. Callum had to leave the life he'd known and go live in the sea, eventually making his way to Mythian School.
